Universal Camera Shock Mount

This is my second one of these. I have a red one I’ve owned for several years, and I bought this one in black for my Sony PCM-D100 recorder. The red one has held up without issues in service with a TASCAM DR-100mkiii recorder. Both recorders are dense and heavy, and the SSM5 suspension is almost perfectly “tuned” for their weight. Great isolation for hand holding. Much sturdier than they appear to be. Recommended.

Works fine with my Zoom H5 on my camcorder.

Excellent quality. Using with Olympus LS-P4 microphone/recorder on Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mk ll

I found it to be sturdy and functional. I’m using it with the Olympus LS-P4 microphone mounted on the Zhiyun Weebill S gimbal and Olympus OMD EM1 Mk II camera. In this application I needed to make several additional accessories to allow full gimbal movement. This was accomplished using the magic 3D printing.

This mount is easy to use, but does not provide as much mechanical isolation for my Zoom recorder as I would like. Better than nothing, but some handling vibration gets to the mic.

There are two issues I have experienced when using this product:

1) The 1/4" base that is used to keep the shock mount tightly in the hot shoe of my A6500 comes undone with some ease. In other words, it would have been nice if they had copied the design of the Rode VideoMicro in how it is in a fixed position that you can just tighten in place while maintaining perfect alignment.

2) The image depicts black shock mounts and the actual item comes with red. Not a big deal, but if the overall dimensions were smaller and narrower it would save some space for other accessories being mounted on a camera.

Overall it does a good job of slightly reducing handling noise, but it would have been great if the materials were more like Rycote. Even at a higher price, it still would be worth it.
