But, as we all know, numbers only tell part of the story. What do creators think of the Movo vs Rode debate?

To dive a little deeper, we thought we’d share some perspectives from creators who have done a side-by-side Movo VXR10 vs Rode Videomicro review.

Creator Comparisons

Rode VideoMicro vs Movo VXR10 - Best BUDGET Microphone for Your Camera

Youtuber Jake McHugh really put the Movo VXR10 and the Rode Videomicro through the ringer, and his first video was so popular, that he made a follow up!

The takeaway: Both mics are great for the value. With certain cameras, like Canons, that have lower gain pre-amps, the Movo VXR10's hotter gain will reduce hiss.

Part 2 takeaway: Once again, both microphones performed well. Jake felt that the Movo VXR10 had a nicer response in the lower frequencies, making a better fit for his voice.

With certain cameras, such as Sony and Panasonic, that have more limited ability to lower the pre-amp gain, the Rode may be a better fit, as it has a lower gain and will be less likely to clip.

For smartphone users, the Movo is a better choice, as you get an additional cable designed for use with a smartphone.

Movo VXR10 vs Rode VideoMicro on Guitar - Best budget mic for YouTube musicians?

We loved seeing this Rode Videomicro vs. Movo VXR10 review, because while most creators who reviewed the mics focused on their capabilities for vlogging, Youtuber, and on-camera applications, this one focuses on recording guitar.

Brian Miller actually produced several of those type of reviews, check them out for more info.

For this review, when it came to recording music, you can sum up Brian’s impressions in this quote: “In all situations, Movo came out on top, often drastically so.”

3 Reasons the Movo VXR10 Is Better Than The Rode VideoMicro

While this isn’t exactly a direct comparison video, this POV from The Crowley Crew Youtube channel definitely made us smile at Movo HQ.

So we’ll wrap up our Movo VXR10 vs. Rode Videomicro comparison guide with Job Crowley’s “3 Reasons” to pick the VXR10 over the Rode Videomicro.

  1. The price point. The VXR10 comes in at lower price than the Videomicro, and comes with an additional cable for your smartphone.
  2. It’s 6dB louder (although keep in mind, this might clip on certain cameras)
  3. It has a better bass response (Movo VXR10 can pick up 35hz and below, compared to Rode Videomicro’s 100hz and up response.)

We always love to hear from creators, so maybe it's time to try the VXR10 for yourself, and tell us what you think.
